Tips for (New) Hikers
|
How to get started:
Over the years, I've bought A LOT of hiking gear, I don't use. Here's a list of what I do use and would suggest for others! I also included links to where to buy them.
Just to name, the cheapest option is usually amazon or used on Ebay, but if you want to buy from black/brown/women owned or local, I'm working on a list of those and will be adding that in soon. |
Hiking Questions and Answers:
I've been getting lots of questions that I've been answering through direct message for new hikers. I wanted to go ahead and make a place here where I would just put those questions and answers in case anyone else had the same ones!

- My favorite tool is All Trails. It's free and easy to use. Just type in where you are and it tells you the hikes near by. https://www.alltrails.com/

- Dismal's Canyon - it does cost but it's sooo beautiful and only 2.5 hours away.
- Petit Jean State Park - Filled with tons of diff lodging options! Only 3 hours away.

Can I go hiking with you?
- Quick answer YES! I'm going to start putting together bi-monthly Memphis trips where I'll put together a plan and then invite anyone who wants to go, to come! It will be really good for new hikers who might want a little support on their first go! It might be an overnight or just a day trip. We'll just all car pool to where ever. If you are interested, just let me know! I'll be sending it out to anyone who let me know they'd like to come!
