Newest Adventure!

Made it back up Sugarloaf Mountain for sunset!! Soo thankful to my amazing friend who agreed to jump in the car with me and climb up a mountain with less than 45 minute notice! Perfect spot for seeing the sunset and getting some clarity and perspective on life :-) AND only 2.5 hours away!!! It’s gorgeous up top if you are willing to climb a little 🙃

Next time I go, I really want to dance on top of the mountain and have a potluck with friends and ofcourse watch the sunset!! if anyone would be down, dm me and let’s make it happen!

Multi-Waterfall Trail trip this weekend!! Absolutely amazing (though I would suggest that others who come do it differently than I did 🙃! More details below. And just a reminder that I do my best to put all of these trips on COVIDescapes901.weebly.com so anyone who wants can easily take on one of these trips!

Location: Deer Skull Falls to Wolfpen falls Loop in Bankhead National Forest
Distance from Memphis: 3 hr 15 min

Description: This amazing hike goes past 5 incredible waterfalls and filled of magical forest scenes!!! With that said, I would suggest NOT doing the full loop (because I’m pretty sure it doesn’t actually loop…). We did the full loop (6 miles total) but ended up navigating through woods for the last bit and my adventure partner ended up getting poison ivy 😬 pretty bad! Would also suggest researching what poison ivy looks like beforehand 😅. Also there were multiple trees (like really big trees across the path so we had to make a number of not so easy decors. But I will say it felt pretty amazing to finish 🙃! Anyway, my suggest would be to go to this trail and at the start to left (clock wise around the trail). Once you have gone by the 4 big waterfalls I would suggest you turn back and call it a day! :-) You will still get about 6 miles in but it will be an out and back hike rather than a loop. You will pass all the waterfalls pictured and the path up until there is easy and family friendly. It is not family friend after that. We saw a very very sad and lost family on the second part who looked pretty desperate to find a way out. I added a map at the last picture with the route I’m suggesting highlighted. If you take that route I can guarantee you will be absolutely floored by the beauty of the place!

Tip: My favorite falls was Deer Skull falls (which is a series of falls) all together. Would definitely suggest climbing to the top of it! You will find multiple hidden falls behind it!

Location: Giant City State Park
Distance from Memphis: 3 hr 15 min

Description: This incredible state park is filled with huge bluffs of sandstone and trails that lead you above and below them. My favorite trail was Trillium Trail which is a circular trail where I saw at least 10 waterfalls coming from the 80-100 foot bluffs. The trail has stone steps that lead you all the way to the top of the bluff where you can look down the waterfalls and appreciate the view. I also really enjoyed the Giant City Trail which was absolutely beautiful as well (but no waterfalls). Also very very family friendly and at least when I went pretty covid safe :-). Didn’t see many people at all.

Challenge: See how many waterfalls you can find :-)!

Just went on a wonderful day trip with my momma! It was so nice to just spend a day getting to be with the kindest, most beautiful, smartest, most loving person I know! 😊 It’s 3.5 hrs away and completely worth the drive!

Location: Mount Nebo State Park
Distance from Memphis: 3.5 hr

Description: This park has it all! There is a BEAUTIFUL rim trail around the mountain which is nonstop amazing vistas for the whole 3 mile hike! There’s also a sweet waterfall, springs, a sunrise and sunset look out, really nice cabins with gorgeous views, swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, very extreme bike trails (pic 6)! I will definitely be back to camp or maybe get a cabin. Strongly strongly suggest this trip and definitely family friendly 😊!

Challenge: Catch a sunset at sunset point and sunrise at sunrise point! I will be back to do this! 😁

Okay, so this waterfall is beautiful... but maybe Not worth going to. Well at least not unless you go prepared (which Zyanya and I were NOT when we went. Lol... but you live and you learn I guess 😁).

Location: Rainbow Falls in TN @ coordinates (35.0317515, -88.1317033)
Distance from Memphis: 2.5 hours

Description: This beautiful waterfall is not easy nor intuitive to get to and there’s some things you need to know and prepare for if you plan on going. Here’s what you need to know:
1) There is no service anywhere around the road to the waterfall so download the map before going.
2) The country unkept main road that it is on is truly unkept and only drivable with a jeep (we went through puddles like the one in the last picture, some puddles up to 4 ft deep and saw evidence of flipped Jeeps that had been in the trail). We parked about 30 minutes walk from the waterfalls when we realized we could not drive anymore in my little sedan.
3) If you drive or walk like we did... stay on the main road (do not follow the water...) and when it first splits take the sharp left.
4) Finally if you go during good weather expect there to be lots of Jeeps with lots of people and beers and not many (or any) masks 😷 😬.

Challenge: if you do go, be careful and make sure you explore the top of the falls! It is absolutely beautiful and there is a path up to the right of the falls :-)
